Mit ihrer ersten Langrille "Big Trouble", hat die 2021 gegründete belgische Todesbrut COFFIN FEEDER, ihre technischen Möglichkeiten perfekt ausgereizt. Der Brutal 'n' Bouncy Death Metal mit breitgefächerter, anarchistischer Ader, ist ein wendungs- und einfallsreicher Formwandler, der ein wahnhaft MaMö-mäßiges Splatter-Festival lostritt. "Big Trouble" ballert nämlich wie Sau! Hier sitzt jeder Hammerschlag, jede Nuance, jedes Riff und jedwede verbale Äußerung. Dabei lässt das Five-Piece um Frontbrüllwürfel Sven "Svencho" de Caluwé (ABORTED, FETAL BLOOD EAGLE) als Hauptsänger, sowie die beiden Gitarristen Jeroen Camerlynck und Bart Govers (beide FLEDDY MELCULY) als zusätzliche Stimmen, immer wieder leichte Grind-, Hardcore-, Deathcore- und sogar Punk-Trademarks in ihrem Brutal Death Metal Chaos aufblitzen. Das ist mehrstimmig und impulsiv vorgetragener Combat Metal at ist best. Ein endkrasser Schlagabtausch mit jeder Menge fett bratender Ideen. Punktgenau, fetzig, disharmonisch, bassbetont, schräg und verdammt HEAVY! COFFIN FEEDER sind im Brutal Death Metal Bereich schon jetzt eine unschlagbare Allianz!!!
Wie man bereits am Cover aus der Feder von Dan Goldsworthy (ABORTED, CRADLE OF FILTH, EVILDEAD, XENTRIX) unschwer erkennen kann, beziehen sich die Lyrics in der Regel auf Serienmörder und Actionfilme der 80er und 90er Jahre. Dennoch sind COFFIN FEEDER mit ihrer modern interpretierten und brachialen Architektur des kompromisslosen Todesstahls, nicht im vergangenen Jahrtausend hängen geblieben, sondern absolut am Puls der Zeit. Die polyrhythmische Schlagwerk-Taktik und das extreme Blast Beat Gehämmer von Siebe Hermans (REVERSE THE SUN, WHEN PLAGUES COLLIDE), samt dem durchtriebenen Bassgewummer von Jan Hallaert, frisst sich in 35:11 Minuten durch insgesamt zwölf Tracks (wenn man die Einleitung "There will be Trouble" hinzuzählt). Dazu nagen sich die schartigen Knochensägen dermaßen tief ins Fleisch, dass ich gar nicht genug davon bekommen kann. Das fünfköpfige Extrem Metal Squad hat sich diesen derbe und wuchtig ballernden Sound von Klangstylist Dave Otero (CATTLE DECAPITATION, SHADOW OF INTENT, ARCHSPIRE), in dessen Flatline Audio Studio in Denver, Colorado, maßgefertigt auf den Leib schneidern lassen.
Mit Gastauftritten von BENIGHTEDs Mike-Membrane-Destroyer Julien Truchan bei "Porkchop Express", welches eine Ode an John Carpenters "Big Trouble in Little China" darstellt, sowie SHADOW OF INTENTs Reibeisen Ben Duerr bei "If it Bleeds", ist der Level an Brutalität kaum noch zu überbieten. Neben den vielen dissonanten Einschüben kommt das perfekte Zusammenwirken der gesamten Rhythmusfraktion aber auch an mörderisch melodischen bis hymnischen Passagen nicht vorbei. Das Headbang-Monster "Big Trouble" pusht dermaßen brutal nach vorne, dass ich gar nicht anders kann, als es in nahezu verschwenderischer Dauerrotation splattern zu lassen. Svenchos Aggro-Vokills werden hier und da schon mal mit Vocaldoubling unterfüttert. Da wird aufs Feinste geröchelt, gebellt, gegrowlt, gekrischen, geröhrt und gekotzt. Dabei entwickelt jeder der zwölf folgenschweren Synapsen-Killer eine bitterböse Eigendynamik. Die homogene und energiegeladene Highspeed-Knüppelorgie bietet obendrein stetige Geschwindigkeitswechsel in zielstrebiger Aggression. Auf ihrem Debüt-Fegefeuer "Big Trouble" haben COFFIN FEEDER einen Killersong nach dem anderen in die Tonspur gedengelt und jegliche, aufkeimende Langeweile ausgemerzt. Da haben die Meister der Extreme alle richtig gemacht! And now IT’S TIME TO BLEEED!!!

With their first full-length album, "Big Trouble," Belgian death metal outfit COFFIN FEEDER, founded in 2021, has fully exploited their technical capabilities. Their brand of brutal 'n' bouncy death metal with a broad, anarchistic streak is a twisty and inventive shapeshifter that unleashes a deliriously MassMurder-esque splatter fest. "Big Trouble" blasts like a rocket! Every hammer blow, every nuance, every riff, and every verbal utterance is spot on. The five-piece, led by frontman Sven "Svencho" de Caluwé (ABORTED, FETAL BLOOD EAGLE) on lead vocals, and guitarists Jeroen Camerlynck and Bart Govers (both of FLEDDY MELCULY) on additional vocals, repeatedly lets subtle grind, hardcore, deathcore, and even punk trademarks erupt in their brutal death metal chaos. This is multi-voiced, impulsive combat metal at its best. A truly brutal exchange of blows with plenty of sizzling ideas. Precise, groovy, disharmonious, bass-driven, weird, and damn HEAVY! COFFIN FEEDER are already an unbeatable alliance in the brutal death metal genre!
As you can easily tell from the cover, penned by Dan Goldsworthy (ABORTED, CRADLE OF FILTH, EVILDEAD, XENTRIX), the lyrics generally refer to serial killers and action films from the 80s and 90s. Nevertheless, COFFIN FEEDER, with their modern interpretation of the brutal architecture of uncompromising death metal, aren't stuck in the past millennium, but are absolutely at the cutting edge. The polyrhythmic percussion tactics and extreme blast beat hammering of Siebe Hermans (REVERSE THE SUN, WHEN PLAGUES COLLIDE), along with the sly bass thrumming of Jan Hallaert, chew their way through a total of twelve tracks in 35:11 minutes (if you count the introduction "There will be Trouble"). The jagged bone saws gnaw so deeply into the flesh that I can't get enough of them. The five-member Extreme Metal Squad had this rough and powerful sound tailor-made for them by sound stylist Dave Otero (CATTLE DECAPITATION, SHADOW OF INTENT, ARCHSPIRE) in his Flatline Audio Studio in Denver, Colorado.
With guest appearances by BENIGHTED's mike-membrane destroyer Julien Truchan on "Porkchop Express", an ode to John Carpenter's "Big Trouble in Little China" and SHADOW OF INTENT's grater voiceBen Duerr on "If it Bleeds," the level of brutality is hard to beat. In addition to the many dissonant interludes, the perfect interplay of the entire rhythm section also includes passages ranging from murderously melodic to anthemic. The headbanging monster "Big Trouble" pushes forward so brutally that I can't help but let it splatter on almost wasteful, constant rotation. Svencho's aggro vocals are sometimes accompanied by vocal doubling. There's a fine array of wheezing, barking, growling, screeching, roaring, and vomiting. Each of the twelve momentous synapse-killers develops a bitterly evil dynamic of its own. The homogenous and energetic high-speed thrashing orgy also offers constant changes of pace in determined aggression. On their debut purgatory, "Big Trouble", COFFIN FEEDER hammered one killer song after another into the soundtrack, eradicating any budding boredom. The masters of extreme have done everything right! And now, IT'S TIME TO BLEEED!!!
